    bố mẹ chị đã Hai ba lần nhắc. Đó chỉ là lộc tết.

    Chị rời quê lấy chồng trên thành phố.
    Nay đã là cái tết thứ ba chị không về nhà ăn tết.
    Chị bận với đủ lý do. Nhớ năm hàng đầu chị lấy
    chồng. Về quê tết nhất , chị rộn rã
    sắm sửa đủ thứ quà mứt. Chị cố tình mua quà trĩu nặng.

    Chị không quên bỏ bao lì xì thật to với số tiền hơn mức
    làng nhàng. Chị phớn phở vênh váo vì là dân đô thị
    , nhà chồng lại khá giả , chị phải mua quà và ngồi lì xì cho xứng tầm.
    Khỏi phải nói , gia đình chị tự hào thế nào.
    Qùa tết toàn những thứ giàu có lịch sự.
    Chị hớn hở ra mặt.

    Năm sau , chị không hồi trang ăn tết vì đứa con còn non ngày tháng.
    Má chị telephone lên nói Quần chúng ở quê
    đều nhắc chị. Chị thấy chạnh lòng.

    Năm thứ hai , chị fone báo không hồi trang ăn tết được.

    Chồng chị bận công tác ngoại bang không về kịp , thằng bé con lại quá nhỏ.
    Má chị nén tiếng thở dài.

    Năm nay chị lại telephone báo không hồi trang ăn tết.
    Chồng chị đã đặt vé đi du lịch xứ
    chùa Vàng. Má chị nén buồn: ừ. Vậy thôi.

    Đang lúi cúi quét dọn nhà cửa , chị nhận được fone của má dưới quê gọi lên:

    – Tết này về đi con. Ba má biết hết cả rồi.

    – Gì ạ? Má nói gì con không hiểu?

    – Hôm rồi thằng Tí chú Năm lên thành phố. Nó nói thấy thất gia con… bác
    mẹ biết hết rồi. Con ơi. Tết về nhà… có
    gia đình.

    – Nhưng mà…

    – Không nhưng gì hết. Phải về. Phải quê con ạ.
    Tết là dịp sum họp…

    Chị chỉ nghe tới đó rồi khóc nấc lên. Vì thể diện mà ba
    năm rồi chị không về quê ăn tết.
    Thật ra , Nhà ở chồng chị đã khánh tận từ lâu.
    Ngôi nhà lớn phải bán đi. Phu phụ chị phải ra ở trọ.
    Công ty vỡ nợ , chồng chị phải bán hàng dạo ngoài đường.
    Làm gì có công tác? làm chi có tiền mà đi du lịch?

    thực ra , chị không khổ đến mức không có tiền về quê.
    Nhưng tính chị vốn chuộng hình thức.
    Hồi trang tết nhất chẳng thể không có quà.
    Hồi trang ngày tết chẳng thể không lì xì?

    Mà đâu thể quà tượng trưng? ngồi lì xì hình
    thức được. Chị không muốn bị Quần chúng xem thường , chê cười.
    Thế là chị viện đủ lý do để không phải hồi trang
    ăn tết.

    Những cánh mai đầu tiên đã hé nụ.

    Chị sẽ mua quà thật to , lì xì thật đáng với cái danh dân thành thị.
    Nhưng rồi cuối năm , bao nhiêu việc phải cần đến tiền. Chị đành
    lỡ hẹn giấc mơ quê ngày tết.

    Còn mấy ngày giáp tết , vợ chồng chị
    cố bán cho hết số hàng. Chị định kiếm thêm chút
    tiền để hồi trang. Chị dằn lòng chỉ
    mua quà và ngồi lì xì hợp khả năng. Quan yếu là chị được về quê ,
    được sống trong khí trời quê ngày
    tết.
